Join Gillie Jenkinson as she reviews her therapeutic model for counselling former cult members. Post Cult Counselling addresses former members’ specific needs and is a flexible relational intensive psycho-educational approach. Gillie has that former cult members often discourage members from counseling because the counsellor may miss the cult issues and want to deal with family of origin issues, leaving the former member client destabilised and frustrated. She will talk about her work with cult survivors and her PhD research on  what helps former cult members recover from an abusive cult experience.

Gillie Jenkinson, MA is a Director of Hope Valley Counselling Limited UK and specialises in offering counselling and psychotherapy to those who have left cults or coercive relationships/groups and those who have been abused. Her publications include articles published in several journals, magazines and books.  Her most recent article in Therapy Today is  ‘Working with Cult Survivors’  May 2013. She is the Mental Health Editor for ICSA Today.
