In this talk, occupational therapist and psychologist candidate Dr. Faye Kouimelis presents sensory integration theory and how psychotherapists can incorporate sensory strategies into their practice.  She will also discuss the role of occupational therapists in the mental health field and how they can compliment psychotherapists practice in complex cases.

Dr. Faye Kouimelis received her Master degree in Occupational Therapy from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis  in 2005 and her Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from the American School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University in Orange County in 2017.  She began her career as an occupational therapist working with children with physical and mental disabilities in the school and clinic setting becoming proficient in assessment and sensory integration.  She completed her doctoral internship and residency conducting psychodynamic psychotherapy with the same populations but at the adult level.  Her passions lie in focusing on the mind and body connections in individuals with severe mental illness and co-occurring physical or developmental diagnoses.
