Participating in the Legislative Process and Sunset Review:
What is Going On and How to Participate

The Colorado Legislature reviews the statute that governs mental health professionals every ten years, during "Sunset". The process spans a couple of years, and ours begins in 2018. The statute that governs mental health professionals will be modified and different aspects of the statute may be revised or left alone. Changes in the statute may affect how we can practice, which is why it is important that we participate, stay informed about the Sunset process as it unfolds, and try to let our legislators know our views throughout the next two years. Starting now, let's help them make better informed decisions regarding Registered Psychotherapists when it comes to a vote during the 2020 legislative session.  But, how do we do that?

Jim Carr, Esq., experienced legislative advisor and CAP Advisory Board Member, will discuss the legislative and sunset processes in Colorado to help us understand what will be happening. He will tell us how, as professionals in the mental health field, we can participate in these legislative and sunset processes so we'll know what to do.

These are exciting times. Our participation is needed. Each one of your voices matters. Please join us for our January 18, 2017 CAP breakfast.
